I’ve looked through thousands of homes over the years, but never have I found one that so perfectly blends picturesque rural landscapes with opulent, contemporary design. No. 201 Doctors Point Rd, in East Albury is special.

The 26.7ha property is set on the banks of the great Murray River in regional NSW, with a lush undulating landscape rolling down to the stately residence and the river beyond.

Stepping inside this grand home, it’s clear every aspect of its design has been carefully considered. Its hallmark is the impeccable use of floor-to-ceiling glass, which draws rural views into the home to form a natural artwork in almost every room.

The floor plan allows for modern, open-plan living, lavish entertaining, and includes tranquil, private spaces to rest and relax. The lucky buyer will have truly found a sanctuary.

As I walk into the kitchen, dining and living space, I’m encased in a flood of natural light and an abundance of colours from the surrounding landscape, with its varying hues of greens, blues and pops of yellow.

Tearing my eyes away from the view, I’m compelled to run my hands over the concrete and Corian benchtops in the gourmet kitchen. They’re cool to the touch and create the standard for the entire kitchen.

There’s no shortage of features here, with glossy, white, 2-pac cabinetry that runs floor-to-ceiling, a double wall oven and a built-in coffee machine.

Stepping inside this grand home, it’s clear every aspect of its design has been carefully considered. Its hallmark is the impeccable use of floor-to-ceiling glass, which draws rural views into the home to form a natural artwork in almost every room.

It’s not hard to picture myself sipping a coffee at the built-in dining table on a lazy Sunday morning and drinking in the view. But when I look further afield, I spot an extensive, covered patio that appears as though it’s been transported from a 5-star hotel.

Bi-fold doors open out to the patio, while on the other side of the living room more doors open to reveal a courtyard, and beyond that a 21m-long inground pool and luxurious pool house with a kitchen, barbecue, bar and fridge.

It’s safe to say this property would be as adept as the venue for an elegant, formal dinner or cocktail soiree as it would be a pool party.

And with a second, renovated, three-bedroom home on the property, there’s a comfortable place for your guests to stay.

The more secluded spaces in the main residence include a light-filled sitting room with ‘70s inspired wallpaper, a home theatre with a projector, built-in speakers, platform seating and cinema drapes and a study with curved feature windows.

All of this and I haven’t even seen the five bedrooms yet, one of which is a guest room with an ensuite.

The bedroom of note is the master suite, and it is a ‘suite’ in the truest sense of the word. It has a minimalist feeling to it, but it has anything but a cold ambience, with rich timber flooring marrying perfectly with the pristine, leafy, countryside views that are the main feature of this room.

If everything before hadn’t already tempted me to call this home, the huge walk-in robe, dressing room and stunning ensuite would.

The ensuite, with a grand circular bathtub resting in front of a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass and yet another magnificent view, is perhaps my favourite feature of the house.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the five fenced paddocks with water troughs, steel stockyards, animal shelter, hay shed and pump shed.

Direct Murray River access and water licences are also part of the package, as are two centre pivot irrigators and joint ownership of an irrigation pump on the river frontage.

A 705sq m shed with air conditioning, a wood heater, hydraulic car hoist and a mezzanine office is also on offer.

This magnificent property is just five minutes drive from the Albury CBD, where you’ll find extensive shopping, arts and culture and dining options.

Albury is also known for its quality health care, including a public and private hospital and state-of-the-art regional cancer centre, it’s education and for being on the doorstep of the Victoria snowfields and Rutherglen wine region.

I think I might stay!
